Stroller Therapy

Ever have one of those days? weeks? heck months even, when you have a mommy breakdown? You know, those days when everything that could go wrong does?? Come on, admit it.

Well that was totally me a couple of weeks ago. I figured since there were so many things going on that were stressing me out that at the very least I could go get a great workout at Stroller Fit.

Go figure, when I aim for a stress-free day the day begins out with obstacles in full force.

My daughter, who as of birth, became my alarm clock, slept in and so did I. Running late for us is ever so hectic and yes stressful. I despise being late, although now that I'm a mom I'm finding that's typically the rule rather than the exception.

When my little one finally did wake up she was not a happy camper. I thought to myself, "I NEED to go to Stroller Fit." Somehow I convinced her to get dressed and out the door, phew! Of course...the exact moment I pulled the mini-van out of the garage my lovely orange gas light popped on..Noooooooo!

Do I risk breaking down on the highway with my daughter in the car?? FINE! Again, thinking, "But after gas I'm STILL going to StrollerFit."

Finally, I made it to Stroller Fit!!! You would think that I would be relieved to hav emade it to class after everything that stood in my way. But, all I could think was how hard the workout would be after a whole week off, and that it was!

There was a moment during our first run where I came so close to giving up and just walking the rest of it. But I believed in myself and a great fran ran my last leg with me for support. Boy, I needed that!

After some more great and challenging exercises we ended up on one of our favorite (and by favorite I mean most dreaded) hills.

Our instructor was diong a great job of pushing us to our limits. I swear we ran up and down that hill 20 times, althought there's a chance it really could have been more like 6. As I ran up the last real lap (not the "last lap" that the instructor shouts out "last lap, okay one more, one more,) I thought my legs would give out and my lung would collapse, but I pushed and ran all the way up past the starting line. I DID IT!

Before I knew what was happening I was sobbing. My first break of relief, it was an amazing breakthrough. At that moment everything that had been stressing me out up to class suddenly seemed so small. I can conquer it all.

So along with great verbal and physical support I got some amazing healing that day. Thanks to some wonderful people and a great workout. Who would have thought Stroller Fit would be such great therapy????

Dinner this weekend...Yum!

Seviche-Style Shrimp and Avocado Tacos

Look for cooked, peeled shrimp at the seafood counter; or quickly thaw frozen cooked, peeled shrimp in a colander under cold running water. Marinate shrimp in a nonreactive bowl, such as one that is glass or ceramic; an aluminum or copper bowl will react with the citrus juice to give the shrimp a metallic taste.
Yield
6 servings (serving size: 2 tacos)

Ingredients
3 limes
1 cup chopped seeded tomato
1 cup diced peeled avocado (about 1 avocado)
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound cooked peeled medium shrimp
12 (6-inch) corn tortillas

Preparation
Finely grate rind from limes to measure 1 tablespoon; juice limes to measure 1/4 cup. Place rind and juice in a large bowl. Add tomato and remaining ingredients except tortillas; toss well to combine. Cover and chill for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Heat tortillas according to package directions. Spoon about 1/2 cup shrimp mixture down center of each tortilla; fold in half. Serve immediately.

Yummy Drink Recipe

Here's a drink idea...

Make a gallon of Crystal Light Lemonade. (5 calories per serving) You can also use pink lemonade
Add Blueberries for flavor and health
Blueberries are 84 Calories per cup, but I hope you will not get a whole cup in a glass:)

If you are so inclined....use about 20 real leamons, 1 Gallon of water, and an artificial sweetener to taste.

Tips to remember

Make sure that you maintain proper form during all exercise. Back straight, tummy tight. Knees and arms are always soft and never locked, head and neck in a neutral position. You will see greater health benefits from proper form

I am glad to see some of you joining!!

I just wanted to post a quickie...

I was at a party today when someone asked me about my business. I gave them the usual sales pitch about the health benefits, changes I have seen, etc...Then she asked what I liked most and I got a little emotional. I said a couple of months ago 3 moms drove to a hospital...some from far away late at night to be there for another mom. This is what it is all about. Supporting each other through our emotional journey as well as our health and wellness journey. WOW! That is so uplifiting that you have each other...
